Obituary of Alida Marie Shannon

The death of Alida Shannon, wife of Robert "Bob" Shannon, of Birchwood Place, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Wednesday, October 17, 2007. She was born on December 7, 1930 in Bathurst, NB to the late James and Macrina (Vienneau) Lavigne. Besides her husband Bob, Alida is survived by three sons: Joseph "Gary" (Donna), Peter (Debbie) both of Saint John, NB and David (Charlene) of Rothesay, NB; one daughter: Lynn Furness (Anthony) of Saint John, NB; four sisters: Marjorie Boudreau (Roland), Ursula Picard (Charles), Adeline Toussiant (Rodolph) and Barbara Gamble (Fred); three brothers: Jack (Yvonne), Roger (Judy) and Robert Lavigne; 16 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Alida was predeceased by one sister Esmerilda Tremblay. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John, NB (634-7425) with visitation on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Our Lady of the Assumption Parish on Saturday, October 20, 2007 at 1 pm. Following cremation, interment in St. Augustine's Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or the Canadian Cancer Society.
