Obituary of Helen L. Wood

The death of Helen Laura Wood formerly of Saint John West, wife of the late Manning Wood, occurred on Monday, September 10, 2007 at Rocmaura Nursing Home, Saint John. Born in Fredericton, NB on February 17, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Elwood and Jennifer (Lipsett) Boone. Mrs. Wood was a graduate of the Royal Victoria School of Nursing in Montreal and the University of New Brunswick and was the Nursing Director at CentraCare for many years before her retirement in 1984. Helen was a member of St. Mark's United Church UCW and was an avid reader, bridge player and Toronto Blue Jay fan. She is survived by one son, Stephen Wood and his wife, Linda of Saint John, three granddaughters, Jillian, Monique (Travis Carr) and Stephanie, one great grandson, Aidan P. Carr, two sisters, Iris Rae of Woodstock and Dorothy Hall (Roland) of Brunswick, ME, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one sster, Marion Harrison. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John West (634-7425), with visiting on Wednesday 7-9 PM and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at St. Mark's United Church, Dexter Drive, Saint John West, on Friday, September 14, 2007 at 11:00 AM. A private family interment will take place at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery at a later date. Remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick would be appreciated.
