Obituary of Mary M. Mahoney

MAHONEY, MARY M. … The death of Mary M. Mahoney RN, of Saint John, NB occurred on Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Oromocto, NB, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Rose (Jones) Mahoney. She graduated from High School in Oromocto and was a graduate of Saint Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing. Miss Mahoney practiced her profession in Port Arthur, ON and Butte Montana, USA for two years before joining the nursing staff of the former Lancaster DVA Hospital where she was employed for twenty-five years. She was also on the nursing staff of the Saint John Regional Hospital where she was Head Nurse in the Gerontology Department, retiring in 1985. Miss Mahoney was a member of Saint Joseph's Hospital Alumni and a charter member of Carleton Curling Club. She was a member of the Our Lady of the Assumption Parish. She is survived by one sister, Alice (Mrs. Lewis Cassar) of Welland, ON, one nephew, Timothy and his wife Janet Cassar, and one niece, Suzanne Chake, of Welland, ON, great nephews and nieces Brandon and Tiffany Cassar, Bailey and Mitchell Chake and several cousins. She was predeceased by one brother, Murray Mahoney. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John West (506-634-7425) with visiting on Saturday from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Assumption Church on Monday, February 5, 2007 at12:00 Noon. Interment will be held in the family plot in Saint Vincent de Paul Cemetery in Oromocto, NB in the Spring.
