Obituary of David J. Gogan

After an extended illness with Alzheimer's disease David J. Gogan of Saint John, NB passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at Rocmaura Nursing Home on December 16, 2006. He is survived by his loving wife, Claire (nee Badeau); his daughter, Lisa Leblanc (Bruce); son, Tony (Kim); grandchildren: Elizabeth, Thomas and Abigail Gogan, Rachael and Andrew Leblanc; one brother, Francis (Mary); one sister, Alma Melvin (Ron); several nieces and nephews, including his special niece, Joanne Carr; Gerard, Tony and Chris Boyce and Roger Theriault. He was predeceased by his parents, Ned and Adeline Gogan; his sisters, Barb Parkhill (Sandy) and Irene Van Wart and brother, Joseph. David worked at Lingley Printing Ltd. for twenty-seven years, after periods of employment at T.S. Simms Ltd., Irving Chainsaw Division, Fairville Department Store and the Lorne Lomax Service Station. He was inducted, along with his brother, Francis, into the New Brunswick Country Music Hall of Fame in 2003, after over fifty years of entertaining in clubs and Legions throughout the province. His most requested songs included "He stopped loving her today" and "Diggy-Liggy-Lo". Arrangements are under the care of Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (506) 634-7425 with visiting on Tuesday from 2-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Rose of Lima Church, Milford Rd., Saint John on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at 10 am. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery followed by a reception. Remembrances made to the Alzheimer Society or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
