Obituary of George Raymond Elward

The death of Raymie Elward husband of the late Anne (Sullivan) Elward occurred at his residence, Ridgewood Veteran's Wing on September 16, 2006. He was born on August 17, 1923 in Saint John West to the late Arthur and Emma (Arsenault) Elward. Raymie served in World War II overseas with the Bomber Command of RCAF & RAF. After the war, he worked in Montreal, PQ for McCall Irentenac Oil (changed to Texaco Canada) for a short while before retuning to Saint John where he worked for Poly Cello Ltd. than CP Express until his retirement. He is survived by one daughter Barbara (Jack) Cormier of Chance Harbour, NB; one brother Morris (Betty) of Saint John, NB; stepson in-law Raymond Hamm of Saint John, NB; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents Raymie was predeceased by stepdaughter Margaret Hamm; a grandson David John Cormier; seven brothers: Donald, Kenneth, Peter, David, Manley, Paul and James and five sisters: Bertha (Betty), Leatrice (Lee), Marie, Joan and Beatrice. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John, NB (634-7425) with visitation on Sunday 7-9 pm and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be celebrated from Bay View Chapel on Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at 11 am. Interment in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery following the service. Remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
