Obituary of DAVID A. PATTERSON

PATTERSON, DAVID A. "DAVE"- The death of David "Dave" Allan Patterson of 37 Bayview Drive, Saint John West, husband of Mary Ann (Gulliver) Patterson, occurred unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Edmundston, NB, he was the son of the late Andrew George and Olive (Seymour) Patterson. Dave was a graduate of Fredericton High School in 1964, the University of New Brunswick Phys Ed program in 1969 and earned his BED in 1978. He had taught in Fredericton Junction, Devon, Bayside and for over 15 years at St. Malachy's. For over 40 years he coached Volleyball at the High School, University of New Brunswick and the Canada Games. He was a member of the Retired Teacher's Association, St. Rose of Lima Parish, Westfield Golf Club and was involved with the Sea Wolves Wolf Pack at UNBSJ and ran the Wolf Pack Volleyball League at UNBSJ. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Dan (Kelly) of Saint John and Thomas "Tom" (Laura Vail) of Fredericton, one daughter, Andrea McGrath (John Paul) of Saint John West, three brothers, Andrew (Tish) of London, ON, Charles of Fredericton and John (Betty) of Fredericton, four sisters, Barb McKnight (Mick) of Nova Scotia, Catherine Hughes (Edwin) of Codys, NB, Mary Fashchoway (Ernie) of McAdam, NB and Gwen Wentworth (Ken) of Shawville, PQ, two grandchildren, Lauren McGrath and Rylie McGrath, several cousins, nieces and nephews. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John West (634-7425), with visiting on Thursday and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church on Saturday, April 22, 2006 at 10:00 AM. Following cremation, interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery. Remembrances to the Children's Wish Foundation, IWK Children's Hospital or the charity of the donors' choice would be appreciated.
