Obituary of Kathleen Winnifred Cawley

Cawley, Kathleen "Kit" Winnifred ? The death of Kit Cawley of Montreal Avenue, Saint John West, NB occurred on Sunday, February 19th, 2006 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Kit was born on September 29th, 1926, to the late Raymond and Elise (Vallis) MaGee in Hibernia, Queens County, NB. She was first employed by Canada Permanent, than Canada Trust as a Trust Administrator for 35 years. In working for them, she became the first woman in Canada, to be promoted to head of a Savings Department. Kit was very active in the community; she was a member of Lancaster United Baptist Church, and volunteered for years, for Hestia House and West Side Food Bank to name a few. Survived by two sons: Robert (Margaret) of Calgary, AB and Brian Cawley of Saint John, NB; four grandchildren: Paige, Joel, Bryston, and Rebecca Cawley; great grandchild Chloe Cawley; two sisters Helen Burgess of Hampton, NB and Ruth Hodgson of Cambridge, ON and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Kit was predeceased by five brothers Murray, John, Harold, Gerald, and Frank MaGee and infant sister Annie. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John, NB (634-7425) with visitation on Tuesday from 2 ? 4 and 7 ? 9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held from Brenan's Bay View Chapel on Wednesday February 22nd, 2006 at 11 am. Interment will follow the funeral service in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Memorial Donations may be made to Hestia House, West Side Food Bank or the charity of the donor's choice.
