THORNE, RICHARD 'DICK' CHARLES ? The death of Dick Thorne of Saint John, NB, loving husband of June (Mason) Thorne, occurred peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family and friends, on Friday, June 17, 2005. Born in Saint John on December 19, 1929, he was a son of the late Richard and Myrtle (Pike) Thorne. He was a life-long resident of Saint John, working for I.L.A. #273, and as a seasonal painter for most of his life. He loved golf, harness racing, fishing, hunting, hockey and baseball, especially when his two sons were involved. He coached many teams and was instrumental in starting a walk-a-thon for the North End Little League. Dick and June have spent the last 27 years trailoring at Pine Cone Campground in Sussex, NB. He lived life to the fullest and was well liked by all who knew him. Dick was known for his wit and humour, he loved to tease, tell jokes, and stir things up. His family and friends would all agree that whenever "Dickie" was around, there was never a dull moment. He will be sadly missed but always remembered with a smile. Dick is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, June; his daughter, Cathy (Ken) Fair of Saint John; two sons: Scott (Joanne) Thorne and Tim Thorne, both of Ontario; brothers: Philip (Carol), Eugene (Barb), Leslie (Carol), David (Sandra) Thorne; sisters: Shirley (Charles) Adams, June Goss, Constance Murphy, Carole (Bill) Gray, Nancy (Jim) Levine; his loving grandchildren: Chelsea, Kendra, Ashley, Brendyn, Ryan, Andrew and Brett; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother William Thorne and his sister Norma Sambles. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (506-634-7425). Visiting on Sunday and Monday, June 19 and 20, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held at Brenan's Bay View Chapel on Tuesday, June 21, 2005 at 10:00 am. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances made to the Heart Failure Clinic at the Saint John Regional Hospital and the Saint John Extra Mural Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
