Obituary of Kathryn Ione Harriott

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, Kathryn "Kit" (Fairweather) Harriott. She passed away peacefully at Ridgewood Veterans Wing, on Saturday, April 30, 2016. She will be sadly missed by her loving husband of almost 70 years, Lennox Harriott, her daughters; Bonnie Harriott Spear (Russell), Sue Harriott Vallis, sons; Ron Harriott (Diane) and Jim Harriott (Colleen), grandchildren; Christel, Roger, Robert, Kristy, Anne, Kate, Tim, David, Wendy, Jocelyn, and Andrew, great-grandchildren; Sebastian, Rowan, Xavier, Tyler, Hunter, Morgan, Carter, Domenic, and many nieces and nephews. Born in Hampton, NB, on August 18, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Helen and Harold Fairweather. She was predeceased by her sisters; Patricia Myers, Edith Ibbotson, and Mary Loughery. Kit was a kind and generous person and will be missed by all who knew her. Her life was a wonderful example of unconditional love for family and friends. She had a real zest for life. She was always busy. Kit was an avid gardener, surrounding her house with beautiful gardens. When she wasn't gardening she was in the kitchen baking delicious pies, cookies, squares and rolls. She was a great cook and famous for her hot cross buns, donuts and homemade lemonade. Kit was a lovely seamstress, sewing outfits for the entire family. She was very involved in the community, volunteering for the Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Association, and the Quispamsis Food Bank. She was also a life time member of St. Paul's Woman's Auxiliary. In her spare time she played bridge at least twice a week. During the summer and fall she loved spending time with the family at the camp on the Belleisle. At 85, she was still sailing and swimming. Kit was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who always put a twinkle in her eye. She will be missed more than she will ever realize. The family wishes to thank all the staff at Ridgewood for the kind and loving compassion they gave our mother. Her care was exceptional. Donations in Kit's memory may be made to the Ridgewood Comfort Fund, the Red Cross, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of your choice. At Kit's request there will be no visiting. Funeral Service will be held at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Rothesay, on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 2:00 PM. Interment to take place at Lower Norton Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119).
