Thoughts of sympathy to the Brown family. Verna was a classy lady who always had a smile. I spent a lot of time with Rosemary in the backyard pool, drinking pop shop pop in the basement. Verna drove us many trips to Caribou rollerrink in the grey Lincoln, and she made the best homemade Mac n cheese. Verna and Bud great family friends.

Condolences to all the families and friends of Verna, Nanny Verna. As I reflect on her life, I can’t help but admire her work ethic. Verna was hands down one of the best “Domestic Engineers “, you could imagine. Her variety of Christmas specialities like the “fruit salad, pineapple lime green salad, strawberry squares, the best chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting” are recipes she introduced us to and are, and will continue to adorn our tables, perhaps renamed Nanny Verna’s fruit salad, etc. For her blended family she hosted many wedding showers, baby showers, birthday parties. Some planned and unplanned. When Rosemary was about six years old, without Verna knowing, she called all her friends to come to her Birthday party. It was certainly last minute, and Verna asked me to go quickly to get some treats while she finished off the cake. And who could forget Mike’s steak supper bombshell!!
I remember Verna telling of how Lynn had volunteered her to make her “green salad” for her graduation class of about 100.! The ingredients alone would have cost a small fortune! Then there was the time Verna drove a new car, with Scott and myself, up through the Gulch, Scott May have been 12 years old. The new car had cruise control that she set up for the first time, just leaving Perth . Well...after the first “S” turn , I was hanging on and Scott, from the back seat say, “Mother...you better touch the break ,and shut that cruise off!!” We are forever thankful she did!
Verna lived and left her life on her terms. She had an impact on all our lives and that of our children and grandchildren . May God bless her soul and the good memories sweeten ours. Respectfully.....Janet L Brooks
