Obituary of Istvan Steven Varga

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Steven “Steve” Istvan Varga of Saint John, NB, which occurred on September 8, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Hungary on November 14, 1936 he was a son of the late Istvan and Ilona (Farkas) Varga.

Steve was employed with Irving Industrial Security for 37 years. He was a member of the Hampton Rifle and Pistol Club and enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by his partner Helen Arbeau of Saint John; son, Steven “Scott” Varga (Shema) of Malaysia; step-daughter, Kim Arbeau; grandson, Ethan; friends; David and Elizabeth Thompson; several nieces, nephews and family members in Hungary.

He is predeceased by his wife, Donna (Kincade) Varga and his parents.

Resting at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John, NB, (634-7425) with visiting on Monday, September 16, 2019 from 2-6 pm. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 from Brenan’s Bay View Chapel at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. In lieu of flowers remembrances to the Kidney Dialysis Foundation, NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice.
