Obituary of Ethel Freda Hunt
It is with great sadness that the family of Ethel Freda Hunt announces her death at the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Home on Sunday July 21, 2019. Born on July 14, 1934 in Meteghan NS, she was the daughter of the late James and Harriet (Amirault) Deveau.
Ethel worked several years in housekeeping at Saint John Centracare as well as the Regional Hospital. She enjoyed spending time with her family, walking her dogs and going to Swiss Chalet for her favourite meal of Chicken Pot Pie. But her great passion and pride was her flower garden where she spent countless hours planting, maintaining and enjoying it.
Ethel is survived by her husband, Vernon Hunt; children, Joseph Hunt, Theresa Hunt, Peter Hunt (Mary), Donna MacKinnon (Carl), Nancy Allain (Mike); Timothy Hunt (Trudy) and James Hunt (Casie); grandchildren, Tommy, Marcus, Katrina, Celia, Timothy, Mary, Laura, Brenden and Kirsten; great-grandchildren, Hayden, Hunter and Olivia along with several nephews, nieces and cousins. Ethel was predeceased by her sisters, Stella Deveau and Marie Furness (Charlie).
Ethel is resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) where visitation will take place on Wednesday, July 24 from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 25 at 12 Noon from Holy Redeemer Parish (316 Somerset Street, Saint John) with interment to follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
For those who wish, remembrances in memory of Ethel may be made to Romero House, Alzheimer Society of NB, Diabetes Canada or a charity of the donor's choice.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Home for their caring and compassion throughout the years and especially at the end.
