Obituary of Frances Louise Lee

April 26, 1941 – September 20, 2013 – It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our Mother and Nanny, Frances Louise (Ross) Lee, wife of the late Robert D. (Bob) Lee, which occurred at Bobby’s Hospice, surrounded by her family. Fran graduated from Saint John High School and followed her dream to Teachers College in Fredericton. She started her teaching career at Winter Street School. After taking several years off to raise her family, she went back to supply teaching at Ketepec Elementary and Morna Heights School, then District 20. Bob and Fran were married in 1962 at Exmouth Street United Church and raised their family in Morna Heights. Blessed with 46 years together, they especially enjoyed their many summers at "the camp" in Bayswater, NB. Her many passions besides her husband and family were her love of curling, golfing, knitting, and most recently bowling. An avid bridge player she played with one group for over 45 years. Nanny Fran always had time for a good game of Scrabble or Rummy 500 with her grandchildren, kindly teaching them the values of playing fair, by the rules, but also playing to win! She was always there to support each one of them in whatever sport or activity they were participating. They will all miss her dearly. Fran was a member of many organizations including: Gamma Master Chapter Beta Sigma Phi NB, Anglican Cursillo, Westfield Golf and Country Club, Carleton Curling Club where she served as president of both the Business and Morning Ladies, Westfield Bowling League, Probus and Tuesday afternoon Bible Study Group. Fran was Anglican by faith and an active member of the Church of the Resurrection in Grand Bay-Westfield, and served many years on both St. Anne’s Church Ketepec and Church of the Resurrection, Grand Bay-Westfield Altar Guilds. She is survived by her three daughters: Stephanie Logan, Lana Whittaker (Jamie), both of Saint John, Tracy Kozij (Grant) of Richmond, BC; one son, Ross (Ann Dewar) of Lake Utopia, NB; six grandchildren, who loved their Nanny so much, Carly and Maddie Logan, Jacob, Maria and Rachel Whittaker and Katarina Kozij; sisters-in-law: Barb Lee, Nancy Ross, Nancy White (Fred) and several nieces, nephews and many good friends. She is the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been predeceased by her parents, Frank L. and Winnifred L. (Dickinson) Ross; sister, Ann Peer; brothers: John Ross, Richard (Doreen) McCormack and grandson, Joshua Logan. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Sunday, September 22, 2013 from 7-9 PM and Monday, September 23, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at 1:00 PM from the Church of the Resurrection, 20 Macdonald Avenue, Grand Bay-Westfield. Interment will take place in the Loyalist Cemetery, Harding’s Point. For those who wish, remembrances to Bobby’s Hospice or the Church of the Resurrection would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences and remembrances may be placed at www.BrenansFH.com.
