Obituary of Dorothy Lillian Mullett

At the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, Dorothy Lillian Mullett, formerly of Valour Court, passed away peacefully. She was the widow of Charles R. Mullett; daughter of the late Alexander and Lillian (Currie) Northrup; a devoted and loving mother to her son Robert "Bobby", and her daughter Sandra Hovey (Philip). Dorothy was a graduate of Saint John Vocational School, specializing in Hairdressing until her marriage in 1940 to Charlie, the love of her life. She became a meticulous homemaker, sewing, smocking, baking, cleaning, and gardening. She loved driving on the old country roads and having picnics with the family, something her family still does. Quiet by nature, she just enjoyed her home and family and for years they vacationed in Bar Harbour, Maine. She took in her own Mother for eighteen years when she became a widow and her nurturing ways also fell to Sandra her daughter who adored her Grandmother. Dorothy was a member of Portland United Church and a generous supporter of many charities. Leaving behind besides her son Bobby and daughter Sandra are grandsons Mark (Linda), Todd (Denise), and the apples of her eye, great granddaughters Lauren Maria, Ashley Sandra, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She and Charlie were married for 52 years. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Wednesday from 7-9 PM and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The Funeral Service will be held from Brenan's Chapel on Friday, June 21, 2013 at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Romero House would be appreciated by the family. A donation to the Children’s Pediatric (Cancer) Garden at the Saint John Regional Hospital will be given by the family in memory of their parents.
