Obituary of Phyllis Audrey Mason

After a brief illness Phyllis A. Mason left her earthly home on Wednesday evening at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Leaving to grieve her passing are her son John C. Mason (Heather); granddaughter Janice A. Deveau (Ken); great-granddaughter Haley Viola Deveau; brother-in-law Robert Mason (Vera) and their family; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her parents William and Hazel McNutt, three sisters and three brothers. She was born at home in Taymouth Creek, NB where she grew up and later moved to Fredericton to attend high school. Her next move was to Arvida, QC where she met Charles Allan Mason. Life in the small town was simple and busy. She loved her role as wife, mother and church worker. Playing cards and darts kept her free time full. She was always up for a challenging game of bridge and loved knitting, as recently as three weeks ago. Phyllis arrived in Saint John after several years in Kingston, ON where she worked tirelessly on a "Meals-On-Wheels" type of program. In the past five years her greatest joy was time spent with her great-granddaughter, Haley. The family appreciates all the TLC Phyllis received from Doctors and Nurses of Shannex – Embassy Hall and 4BS at the Saint John Regional Hospital, as well as her dearest friends Patti Scribner and Susan Fairbrother. Thank you to Brenan’s Funeral Home for their professionalism and support. Although there will be no visitation, family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Phyllis’ life which will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel at 12:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, remembrances made to any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
