Obituary of Evelyn Amiro

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Evelyn Amiro of Saint John, wife of the late Benjamin John Amiro, which occurred on Monday, July 23, 2012 at the Loch Lomond Villa. Born on October 7, 1909 in New Waterford Cape Breton, she was a daughter of the late James and Elsie (Bonner) Hargraves. Evelyn was a former member of Forest Hills Baptist Church and the Silver Links Senior Citizens group of Loch Lomond. She had lived in the Saint John Area since 1937 and was also a former resident of Lakewood for over 50 years. She is survived by her children, Thomas Hargraves of Saint John, Carleata Norris of Saint John and James (Eleanor) Fillmore of Saint John; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and one niece, Glenda (Michael) McCullough of Ontario. Evelyn was the last surviving member of the immediate family and was predeceased by her parents, husband, three brothers, Wilbert, James and Augustine Hargraves; three sisters, Rita Farrell, Ella Fillmore and Mary Hargraves; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Hargraves and son-in-law, Newton Norris. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at 10:00 am from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or the John T. McMillan Jr. Memorial Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
