Obituary of Kevin Joseph Kelly

Kevin Joseph Kelly passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. Kevin was the son of the late Louis and Gertrude (Lynch) Kelly, and was born in Saint John on July 15, 1948. Kevin graduated from St. Malachy’s High School in 1966. He moved to Vancouver in the mid 1970’s until 1988 when he returned home to Saint John. He was employed at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Kevin is survived by his sister, Nora (Kelly) Thomson and her husband Robert Thomson; niece Kelly (Thomson) MacKay and her husband Adam MacKay; nephew Andrew Thomson; his aunt, Sr. Nora Kelly, SCIC; and several cousins. He was predeceased by his older brother Colin Kelly. He is also survived by his longtime friend, Lois Hawkins. Kevin was loved and respected by his family and friends. Most notably, he was known for his sharp wit, intelligence, kindness, and sense of humour. He will be greatly missed by all. The family would especially like to thank the staff at the Saint John Regional Hospital Palliative Care and Oncology Units for their kindness and care. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 from 7-9 PM. A Funeral Service will be held from Brenan's Chapel on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances to the Saint John Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit or to any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family, in lieu of flowers.
