Obituary of Charles Edward Dorie

Dorie, Charles Edward (Dempsey), after a failing illness, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles (Dempsey) Dorie of Saint John, which occurred May 6, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia on November 5, 1943 and was the son of the late Sarah (Daigle) Dorie and Edward Dorie. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and ATVing. He still did fish in his later years too. He had a few employers over the years, all of which he did the same work, cement floors and ceramic tile setter. His more recent employer was Floor Fashions where he convinced them that ceramic tile was the way to go and retired from there in August 2004. He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce (Allen) Dorie of 48 years; his children, Merna (John) Butler of Saint John; Sherry, Grand Bay- Westfield; Shayne (Krista) of Public Landing; grand-children, Joshua Dorie, of Grand Bay-Westfield; Celina and Bradley Butler of Saint John West and Kendall Mackenzie of Public Landing.; 3 brothers Bernie, Edgar Allen (Jenny) Toronto, ON; Archie (Nancy) Sussex, NB; sisters, Ruthie (Archie) Coston, Westfield; Mary (Brian ) Nisbet, Scarborough, ON; Joyce (Albert) Chevarie, Agnes (Joe) Franks, Brenda (Perry) Matthews, all of Saint John. He was predeceased by his sisters, Myrtle Hamm and Emily East; brothers, Lawrence Dorie; Gerald in infancy. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Monday , May 7, 2012 from 2-9. Funeral service be held from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 10 am. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
