Obituary of David George Jenkins

The death of Rev. David George Jenkins of Rothesay, loving husband of Yvonne (McCluskey) Jenkins occurred unexpectedly on Monday, August 12, 2013. He was born in Cumberland Bay NB, a son of the late Irvine and Beulah (Bishop) Jenkins. David spent the greater part of his life in the Saint John area and had been employed for many years with London Life, and served in ministry in the Pentecostal Church. David was a very devoted family man, loving husband of 60 years to his teenage sweetheart Yvonne, and a very proud father and grandfather. He will be remembered for his consistent, exemplary Christian testimony, kind manner, dry wit and faithfulness. He is survived by his wife Yvonne, two sons, Galen (Patricia) Jenkins and Rodney (Valerie) Jenkins both of Rothesay; two daughters, Cheryl (Dana) Rodgers of Dartmouth, NS and Karla (Rev. Thomas) Price of Hampton, NB; six grandchildren, Daniel Price, Michael Price, Andrew Jenkins, Trevor Jenkins, Derek Rodgers and Tyler Jenkins; five brothers, Burnham Jenkins of Toronto, ON; Edward (Mary) Jenkins of Milford, CT; Lloyd Jenkins of Chipman, NB; Ralph (Dorothy) Jenkins of Saint John and Harold (Vivian) Jenkins of Fredericton, NB; two sisters, Bernice Larsen and Alice (Darryl) Lyons both of Fredericton; several nieces and nephews. David was predeceased by his parents and brother, Gilbert. Resting at First United Pentecostal Church, 130 Mark Drive on Thursday, August 15, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 16, 2013 from First United Pentecostal Church at 1:00 pm. Followed by a reception in the Church Hall. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish remembrances to Global Missions at Mission Point Church or any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).
