Obituary of Myrtle D. Baxter

Surrounded by her loving family and with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Myrtle Dorothy Baxter which occurred at her residence on Wednesday, May 1, 2013. Myrtle was born on February 22, 1918 to the late Simeon and Dora Crawford of Hammond Vale, NB. She was predeceased by her first husband Leonard E. Baxter in 1970 and her second husband, Murray F. Baxter in 2008. She was a member of St. James Anglican Church Lakewood, Silver Links Seniors Club, 50 year member of the L.O.B.A., Honorary member of Provincial Grand Lodge, member of the P.C. Party of NB and former member of the St. James Anglican Church Ladies Guild. Myrtle most enjoyed her large family. She enjoyed all family functions, loved playing cards and enjoyed many years of trailering with her family. She also enjoyed many bus tours through the years. Myrtle was the last member of her immediate family and was the oldest person of her church. Myrtle is survived by three daughters: Lorraine (Doug) Roberts of Baxter’s Corner, NB, Anna (Art) Donovan, of Saint John, NB, and Louise (the late Bruce) Lackie of New Maryland, NB; six sons: Karl (Diane), Donnie (Patsy), Bryan (Betty), all of Saint John, NB, Ronnie (Terry) and Randy (Wendy) of Baxter’s Corner, NB, and Jamie (Janice) Reynolds of Quispamsis, NB; three stepdaughters: Nancy (Bill) Coleman and Sandra Hart of Hampton, NB, and Colleen (John) Sproul, of Saint John, NB; one stepson, Paul (Christine) Baxter, of Saint John, NB; 23 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Freda Crawford, and brother-in-law, Ernest Paget, of Sussex, NB; many nieces and nephews. Besides her late husbands and parents, Myrtle was also predeceased by her son-in-law, Bruce Lackie and granddaughter, Dawn Marie Durepos, great-grandson Parker Ryan, sisters Freda Paget and Lottie (Sandy) MacCallum, brothers Donis (Phyllis), Clifford (Marlene), Melbourne and Murray Crawford. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) where visitation will take place from 2:00 pm – 9:00 pm on Friday, May 3, 2013. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 11:00 am at St. James Anglican Church, 2000 Loch Lomond Road, Saint John, NB. A reception will take place immediately following the funeral service in the Church Hall. Interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to St. James Anglican Church, Lakewood, All Saints Anglican Church, Loch Lomond, Extra-Mural NB or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
