She was born on May 20, 1953 in Fredericton to Allan, who passed away in 1967, and Edith (Rowan) Farris, who passed away in 1975. She was also predeceased by her brother, Ronald, in 2009. Susan retired in 2007 after 32 years as an educator, first as an Itinerant Teacher; a high school teacher at both Milledgeville North and Kennebecasis Valley High, Department Head of French, ending her career as Vice-Principal at KV High. Since her retirement, Susan has on occasion worked for Elections NB, the Department of Education, and as a supervisor of Educational students for both UNB campuses (a position she most enjoyed). Susan is survived by her husband of 33 years, Roger; daughter, Jacqueline (Adam Brigden); son, Nicholas (Andrea Lane); special grandson, Nathaniel Brigden; sister, Ann MacDonald (Bill) of Russell, ON; brother, John (Teri) of Judique, NS; 13 nieces and nephews and many grand nieces and nephews.
