Obituary of Reginald David Brown

Reginald David Brown of Saint John, husband of the late Florence Elizabeth May (Britton) Brown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Rocmaura Nursing Home, with his sons by his side. Born in Saint John on January 3, 1930, he was the eldest son of the late Reginald and Marie (Ryan) Brown. Reg worked on Pilot Boat #6 in the Saint John Harbour, and subsequently worked with Purdy’s Sales and Service and Universal Sales, from where he retired. A devoted family man, Reggie brought his passion for sailing and yacht racing to many. As a skilled navigator, he took his family on many coastal adventures, and made numerous yacht deliveries for proud new owners. Having been associated with the Royal Kennebeccasis Yacht Club throughout his life, he was given an Honourary Lifetime Membership in the Club. Reggie is survived by his sons, David R. Brown and John C. Brown, both of Saint John; brothers Douglas F. Brown (Pat) of St. Andrews and James M. Brown (Trudy) of Saint John; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his wife, Reggie was predeceased by brothers Ronald F. Brown and David Robb; and by an infant sister, Marjorie. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at 10:00 AM from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery.
