Obituary of Patrick Vernon Toole

Patrick Vernon Toole of Rothesay, husband of Shirley A. (Wallace) Toole, of 58 years. Passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Patrick was born in Fredericton son of the late Edgar E. and Theresa E. F. (Wood) Toole. After graduating from Oromcto High School he was employed by Dominion Stores & C.W. Hall & Co. In 1953 he moved to Saint John to work for J & A MacMillan. Patrick joined Standard Life in 1958 with a career spanning 42 years. He was Past President of Life Underwriters Assoc. of Canada (Saint John Branch), Rothesay-Kings Rotary Club (Paul Harris Fellow), Saint John Probus Club. For 26 years he sang with the Men of Fundy and served in various capacities. He was a life member of ADVOCIS and the P.C. Party of Canada. Patrick was a longtime member of Lancaster Baptist Church. He was active in the Senior Choir, the Lancaster Baptist Ambassadors Men’s Choir and served on various boards and committees. For two and a half terms he was Senior Goodwill Ambassador Kings Co., NB. Patrick is survived by daughters, Brenda C., Peter H. W. of Saint John and Deborah L. McLaughlin (Kevin) of Norton; grandson Geoffrey P. McLaughlin; twin sister, Patricia Crowley; brothers, Paul (Sandra) both of Fredericton; R. Glendon (Jacqueline) of Calgary, Merle (Flora) of Saint John, Keith (Cynthia) of Moncton; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Frances Craig. Patrick’s family would like send a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and staff of 4BS at the Saint John Regional Hospital for their kindness and care during this difficult time. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Sunday, February 3, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The Funeral Service will be held from Lancaster Baptist Church on Monday, February 4, 2013 at 1:00 pm. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. In lieu of flowers remembrances to Lancaster Baptist Church or the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
