Obituary of Doris M. Andrews

The death of Doris Margaret Andrews of Saint John, NB wife of the late Gerald J. Andrews, occurred on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at the Ridgewood Veteran’s Hospital. Born at Windsor, NS, on October 22, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Bella (Brown) Skaling. Doris served Canada in World War II overseas with the air force, woman’s division and also as a Nurse in the Medical Unit from 1943 -1946. She lived in the Saint John Area most of her life, she recently moved to the Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing after living on the Stockfarm Road for over eighteen years. Doris was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and a lifetime member of weight watchers. She was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Hampton Branch #8. Survived by her nieces, Louise Scott (Vernon) of Summerville, NB and Patricia Oliver (Jack) of Grand Bay-Westfield, NB; nephews, Robert Alden of Kingston, ON, Douglas Crowley of Hampton, NB, Arthur Skaling of Fredericton, NB and Peter Skaling of Nackawic, NB; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and sister-in-law, Lottie Hall. Besides her husband, Doris is predeceased by her brother, Gordon Skaling and sisters, Nellie Bernard (Alden) and, Catherine Crowley. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, 634-7424 with visiting on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm with a Royal Canadian Legion Tribute Service at 7:00 PM The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at 12 noon from Brenan’s Chapel. Interment to take place in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery, Rothesay at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing Comfort Fund would be appreciated by the family.
