Obituary of Eleanor Mary Record

Surrounded by her family the death of Eleanor Record, wife of the late Harold Albert Record occurred at Kingsway Care Centre on April 28, 2013. She was born on May 23, 1920 in Saint John to the late Judge Henry O. and Catherine (MacDonald) McInerney. Eleanor was a veteran of World War II serving on the homefront from 1941 – 1945.Eleanor is survived by her daughter, Sandra Piekarski (Scott) of Rothesay; granddaughters, Sidney and Samantha; brother, Harry McInerney (Liz) of Saint John; sister, Joan Kennedy of Saint John, brother-in law Harold Henneberry and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband; parents; sisters: Mary McInerney, Marion Watts, Margery Knoll, Christine McInerney, Dorothy Lunney, Rita Henneberry, Bobby Lawson and brother, George. Eleanor understood that the importance of life was to express laughter instead of tears; happiness instead of sadness; hope instead of disappointment, and to always express love. She cherished the gift of song. She strived to maintain simplicity, which proved to be her greatest achievement. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). At her request there will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from Holy Trinity Church, Rockland Road on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 11:00 am with her nephew, Msgr. Brian Henneberry VG and Father Peter Stephen officiating. Interment will take place in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery, Rothesay. For those who wish remembrances to Holy Trinity Church Building Fund would be appreciated by the family. The family would like to extend their appreciation for the great care provided to both Eleanor and her family during her 5 years of residency at their facility.
