Obituary of Edmond J. Babin

The death of Edmond (Edgar) Joseph Babin, of Quispamsis, husband of the late Delore (Roy) Babin, occurred on Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in St Louis de Kent, NB on May 8, 1916, he was a son of the late Frank and Margaret (Daigle) Babin. Ed had a vaste experience of skills and tradework. He owned and managed rental properties, was a watch maker, a miner, a Boilermaker, and a skilled carpenter. He was a member of St. Marks Parish Quispamsis and was active in the Lenten Dinner and Movie Program, Carpenters Union Local 1386, the Quispamsis Senior Auction Card group, a life member of the Quispamsis Seniors Club, and life member of the Kennebecasis Valley Seniors Club. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent many happy years fishing at his camp on the lake. He is survived by one son, Norman (Christine) Babin of Campbell River, BC; two daughters, Jacqueline (Allan) Beckingham of Quispamsis, NB, Doreen (Louis) Hayes of Edmonton, AB; one brother, Jean Baptiste Babin; and one sister, Adeline Richard both of St Louis de Kent, NB; seven grandchildren, Christopher (Karen) Beckingham of Oromocto, NB, Jennifer (Rob) Sheils, of Darlings Island, NB, Jason (Maureen) Hayes of Edmonton, AB, Jacob (Lara) Hayes of London, England, Karen Hayes (Timm Evans) of Edmonton, AB, Rachel Friederich of Vancouver, BC, and Taryn Friederich of Sidney, Australia ; five great-grandchildren; Matthew, Emma, Bentley, Kelly and Keira; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents he was predeceased by four brothers, Fidele, Alcide, Amade and Edmund, three sisters, Anna, Ida and Rita. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (634-7424) with visiting on Friday, November 16, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 17, 2007 from St. Mark’s Church, Quispamsis at 10:00 am. A Prayer Vigil will be held on Friday at 8:00 pm. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice.
