Obituary of Blanche Helen Hanley

Hanley, Blanche Helen – With great sadness we wish to inform her loved ones and friends of the passing of our dear mother, Blanche Helen (Feran) Hanley, daughter of the late Frederick J. Feran formerly of Boston and the late Blanche Helen (King) Feran, who passed away peacefully with her family by her side just before her 88th birthday on December 30th, 2007. Our Mother loved her music, many friends but mostly her beloved family especially her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. During her youth she loved skating, hockey games, spending time with her many relatives and she showed her compassion through her volunteer work at Rocmaura. Her Irish heritage was extremely important to our Mother. She spent many moments with her Mother even though she passed away when Mom was only 13 and she truly adored her Father whom she loved dearly all her life. She was predeceased by her loving son, John “Jack” and her husband Melville Francis Hanley as well as 4 brothers and 3 sisters. She is survived by her loving family: Suzanne (Hugh) Allison of Rothesay, Dawn Marie Smith and the late Timothy Smith of Barrie, Ontario, Melinda (Tom) Delong and Wendy (Peter) Robichaud of Saint John; grandchildren: Trisha Evans, Meredith Smith, Melissa Delong, Jay (Michelle) Delong, Kate Allison, Amy Robichaud and Nicole Robichaud; her nephew, David Hewitson, who was like a son; two sisters, Rita and Anna; one brother, William of Tewksbury, Mass; her loving niece, Linda who was there in times of need and nephew, Paul Roy. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424. To celebrate Blanche’s life we invite you to share with us through visiting on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Peter’s Church, Clarendon St., Saint John on Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at 11 am. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or any charity of choice.
