Obituary of Alice R. Mackie

The death of Alice Ramona Mackie of Sussex Drive, Saint John, wife of the late Donald Mackie, occurred peacefully on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, following a lengthy illness. Born in Chatham, New Brunswick on July 24, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Lauretta (Travis) Green. Mrs. Mackie was employed for several years at MRA’s and Pascal-Emerson’s. She was a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #53 and volunteered much of her time to various causes in the Saint John area. She was an avid bingo player, loved animals and traveling, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She will be sadly missed. Alice is survived by her daughter, Heather L. Stordy and her husband Brian of Moncton, three grandchildren, Lucas D. Guimond, Samantha M. Stordy and Alicia L. Stordy, cousin, Pam Dalton (Ron) of Miramichi and many friends. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Monday, August 27, 2007 from 10:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM. Interment in Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick would be appreciated. The family would like to give special thanks to the Nurses and Staff of 3C North, Saint John Regional Hospital and also to Dr. K. Mostafavi, your kindness will never be forgotten. The Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxillary will hold a tribute service at 10:55 am prior to the funeral service.
