Obituary of Everett John Hubbard

It is with sad hearts we announce the death of Everett John Hubbard of Saint John, beloved husband of the late Bertha Hubbard (Richardson), which occurred on Friday, December 25, 2015 at Rocmaura Nursing Home. Born on November 3, 1924 in Pereaux, NS, he was the son of the late Norman and Zetta (Sanford) Hubbard. Prior to his retirement, Everett was employed as a construction foreman; most recently working with Paul and Bruce Martin Limited. He enjoyed his work, going for his many walks and was famous for his "Hubbard Hugs". He had a smile for all he met and equally loved to put a smile on everyone’s face. Everett was a true gentleman and will be missed by all who knew him. Everett is survived by his children, David Hubbard (Joan) of New York and Rachel Dixon of Saint John; brothers, George of Grand Bay-Westfield and Bernie of AB; sister, Charlotte Clark of ON; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Fred and Roy; as well as sisters, Dorothy Woodsworth and Rachel Hubbard. Everett shared a special relationship with Paul Martin who thought of him as a father; as well as his special friends from Lancaster Baptist Church. We wish to express a special thank you to his caregiver Susan Smith for the excellent care that was always provided to him. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John with visiting on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery in the spring. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
