Obituary of Ada Alberta Melanson

Ada A. (Fraser) Melanson of Grand Bay-Westfield, formerly of Millidge Avenue, went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Wednesday, May 28, 2014. She passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital with her loving family by her side. Born August 6, 1930 in River Glade, NB, she was a daughter of the late William and Ada (Carter) Fraser. Ada was a faithful member of Mission Point Church (formerly First United Pentecostal Church), and dedicated her life to raising her family. Ada is survived by her son, Bill Melanson (Ruth); daughters: Judy (Melanson) Rafuse and Gail Melanson; grandchildren: David Rafuse, Bill Melanson Jr., Jamie Melanson, John Melanson, Stephanie Stewart (Jason), Linwood Hatheway (Melissa), Naomi Watson (Ian), and Leanna Katerberg (Devon); several great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Dorothy Fraser and Dena Miller; brother, Gordon Fraser; sister-in-law, Jean Fraser; several nieces and nephews; and close friends: Mildred Gregory, Marion Robichaud, Mary Keenan, John and Joan Bruhier, JoAnne Clarke, and Dave Miller. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Harvey E. Melanson in 1983; her sister, Rena MacEwen; and brother, William E. Fraser. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). Visiting will be held on Friday, May 30, 2014 from 6 to 8 pm at Mission Point Church, 130 Mark Drive (633-0010). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 11 am from the church. A private interment will be held in Fernhill Cemetery at a later date. Donations to Mission Point Church’s France Mission Trip would be appreciated by the family.
