Obituary of Marjorie Elizabeth Chisholm

Marjorie Elizabeth (Hamm) Chisholm died on March 2 at 93 years of age. Marjorie was born on February 4, 1922 and grew up in Saint John, NB graduating from Saint John High School - Class of 1939. She was employed at McCormick/ Zatzman’s from 1956 before joining Montreal Trust on King Street in Saint John in 1963. On the retirement of her husband, Carleton M Chisholm, in 1974 they moved to Toronto when she accepted the position of Manager, Personal Financial Services with Montreal Trust until her retirement in 1987. After her retirement, Marjorie and Carl returned to New Brunswick, and resided in Rothesay until her medical condition necessitated a move to Bobby’s Hospice. Marjorie’s husband, Carl, predeceased her in 2002. Marjorie was the granddaughter of R Parker Hamm, a prominent Saint John businessman, who donated land for the Boer War Memorial Park on Douglas Avenue. Marjorie is survived by her daughters Jacquelyn (Jacquie) (Mark) Trask, Joan Neal of Toronto, and Marilyn of Nelson BC; grandchildren Brad and Krista of Derry, New Hampshire, Tara of Nelson BC and Matt Cunningham of Paris (France) ,Angela and James (Katie Withers) of Quispamsis, and nine great grandchildren. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the Extra-Mural Program, who allowed Marjorie to remain independent as long as possible and to Doctors Chris O’Brien, Julia Wildish, Dr. Jessica Hemmings, and Jennifer Hannigan and the caring staff and volunteers at Bobby’s Hospice. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John. A private family graveside service will be held at Fernhill Cemetery. Donations in Marjorie’s memory may be made to Bobby’s Hospice, Saint John High School Alumni, or the Charity of the donor’s choice.
