Obituary of Murray Christopher Thompson

The death of Murray Thompson of Saint John, husband of Dorothy (Davis) Thompson occurred on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in River Phillip, NS on January 18, 1931, he was the son of the late Fred and Jennie (Dillman) Thompson. Murray was a skilled carpenter by trade and was famous for his gyprocking abilities. He loved to fish and hunt but most all he loved spending time with his family. His precious grandchildren were his world and they will always remember their grandfather as awesome, playful and loving. In addition to his wife, Dorothy, Murray is also survived by sons, Jim and Robert "Bob" (Judy Richards), both of Saint John; sister, Doreen Dyment (Wendell) of PEI; grandchildren, Chris, Tammy (Keith Hayes), Matthew (Karla Floyd), Benjamin (Lori Smith) and Misty Dawn; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Wendell and Floyd; as well as daughter-in-law, Muriel. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Monday, January 13, 2014, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances made to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.
