Obituary of Beverley Carl Bower

It is with great sadness that the family of Beverley "Bev" Carl Bower announces his passing, which occurred on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Bev died peacefully in his sleep, with his family by his side. Born on March 10, 1942 in Middleton, NS, and raised in Lunenburg, NS, he was the son of the late Carl and Marion (Toole) Bower, and loving husband of Linda (McAllister) Bower. Bev was a graduate of the Lunenburg Academy, and was employed for many years with the Bank of Montreal, Burroughs Canada, Investors Group, Canada Life, and was proprietor of C. A. Munroe and B & D Leasing and Sales. He will be remembered by all who knew him for his love of family, sports, and laughter. He held many positions in the sporting realms as coach, manager, chauffeur, and encourager. Bev had a genuine love for people, and was generous with his time and talents. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, being a long time member of the Riverside Golf and Country Club, curling, and playing bridge. In addition, he was a long time fan of his beloved Brooklyn/L.A. Dodgers. In addition to Linda, his devoted wife of 49 years, Bev is survived by his children, Jeffrey Bower (Jennifer) of Saint John, Danny Bower (Ana) of Saint John, Stephanie Wright (Derek) of Edmonton, AB, Lindsey Vautour (Derek) of Eastern Passage, NS, and Matthew Bower (Erika Braun) of Kelowna, BC; grandchildren Sean, Lauren, Evan, William, Joshua, Christopher, Abigail, and Cole; siblings Cheryl Corkum (Ronald), Monica Wentzell, Stephen Bower (Marlene), and Wanda Veinot, all of Lunenburg, NS; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday, December 26, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Friday, December 27, 2013 at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery.
