Obituary of Walter David East

The death of Walter East of Saint John, husband of Eleanor (Connolly) Beddow East occurred on Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on September 10, 1951, he was the son of the late Joseph and Gladys East. Wally always enjoyed a good game of TV bingo and loved listening to the Sunday Night Jamboree. He enjoyed all sports and was a loyal Toronto Blue Jays and Maple Leafs fan. Wally will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Wally is survived by his son, Joseph East (Melody); daughter, Gladys Day (Trevor); son-in-law, Darren Doucette: step-sons, Aaron Beddow (Cheryl), Walter Beddow (Tobi) and Blaine Beddow (Angel); step-daughters, Christine Brigley (Eldon) and Jacqueline Duplessis (Paul); sister, Lillian Arsenault; brother, Charles East (Ann); several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Wally was also predeceased by his first wife, Emmy; son, Johnny and step-daughter, Linda Doucette. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Friday, January 30, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Saturday, January 31, 2015, at 2:00 PM. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
