Obituary of Hope Bernice Campbell

Hope Bernice (Sinclair) ( Boyce) Campbell of Saint John, passed away peacefully at the Loch Lomond Village on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 4:35 am. She was the widow of the late Gerald Judson Campbell. Hope was born in Castalia, Grand Manan, on September 10, 1923, daughter of the late Frank and Mattie (Huntley) Sinclair. The Sinclair’s settled on the island from Scotland in the early 1800s. Hope was the last Sinclair born, and the last surviving. Predeceased by her parents, 3 infant brothers, 1 sister Estella, and special brother in law Sam Guptill. She is survived by one daughter, Deborah Karen (Boyce) Phillips and Ken Shewbridge of Coles Island; two sons: William Garfield Jr. and Lois (Ross) Boyce, Donald Osborne Boyce and Sharron (McCullam) Boyce; 6 Grandchildren: Cathy (Boyce) Renouf, Linda (Boyce) Biron, Brandon Richter, Justin Doucette, Robert Boyce, Tammy (Boyce) Moore; several great and great great grandchildren and step grandchildren; two daughters in law: Jean Boyce and Carol Boyce; one niece, Ilda Cooke; two great nephews: Ricky Cooke and Carolyn of Grand Manan, Norman Cooke of Florida; 3 sisters in law: Gertrude Pitt, Marion and Mable Campbell of Saint John, as well as many many friends. Hope was Pentecostal by faith, loved the Lord and trusted him for everything. Hope worked for many years in ladies fashions: Sally Shop, Waterloo Dress Center and Woolco. She loved people of all ages. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, 634-7424 with public viewing on Sunday, February 23 from 2–4 and 6–8 pm. Funeral to be held from Full Gospel Assembly on Monday, February 24 at 2 pm. Reception to be held at the church immediately following the service. Interment to follow in the spring at Wesley United Church Cemetery in Browns Flat. If desired, donations may be made to the Loch Lomond Village or to a memorial of the donor’s choice.
