Obituary of Mary Clare Gamblin

Mary Gamblin passed away on May 17, 2015 at her residence in the Loch Lomond Villa. Born December 18, 1927 in Fairville, she was a daughter of the late Freeman and Josie (Conway) Horncastle. Mary worked for 20 years as a salesperson at Sears. She was also a Past-president of the Legion Auxiliary and Secretary of Branch 69, Past Regent and Life Member of the IODE, Trustee for HMCS Sackville, Life Member of the 8th Canadian Hussars- Princess Louise Regiment, member of the RCNA Association- Combined OPS, and a member of the Saint John Naval Veterans Association. Mary will be missed by her son, Thomas Gamblin; daughter-in-law, Rose Gamblin; grandchildren, Natasha Gamblin and Nicholas Maxwell; great-grandchildren, Xavier and Abby Maxwell; and her nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband, Frederick J. Gamblin; son, James Gamblin; brother, Robert Horncastle; and sister, Alice MacDonald. The family would like to thank the staff of the Loch Lomond Villa for their care of Mary during her 7 ½ years as a resident. Your kindness will not be forgotten. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, with a Legion Tribute service during evening visitation, beginning at 7 pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 2 pm in Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery.
