Obituary of Arthur Patrick Connell

With his family at his side the death of Arthur Connell occurred at St. Joseph's Hospital on May 16th, 2014 after a brief illness. He was born on April 22, 1934 in Saint John to the late Joseph and Melena (LeBlanc) Connell. Arthur was the last member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers: Kenneth (Marjorie) Connell and Edward (Doris) Connell and sisters: Helen Stanton (Arthur) and Dorothea Moore (George). Arthur worked for the Provincial Government as a tax auditor and for the Federal Government at Canada Post until his retirement. He was a lifetime member and faithful parishioner of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Arthur is survived by his nephews: Brian Connell (Elaine) of Fredericton, Kevin Connell (Henrietta), Wayne Connell (Carol), Bruce Connell (Nancy) of Saint John, Robert Connell of Calgary, Gary Connell (Brenda) and Rick Connell (Mary) of Saint John, Peter Stanton, Philip Stanton (Kelly) and Neil Stanton (Kim) of Saint John; nieces: Patricia Bates (Edward) of Saint John, Catherine Brown and Christine Christian (Jim) both of Nova Scotia; and Joanne McGee of Saint John; sister-in-law, Marjorie Marsten as well as several great-nieces; great-nephews; great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Monday, May 19, 2014 from 2:00 - 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 91 Waterloo Street on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 12:10 pm. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. For those who wish remembrances to the Cathedral Restoration Fund, The Canadian Lung Association or the MS Society would be appreciated by the family.
