Obituary of Mary Constance Kirk

Connie Kirk (nee Fewings) born December 25, 1917 to Walter Charles Fewings and Christine Augusta (Gus) Ryan in Mount Pleasant Ave , Saint John, NB has passed away peacefully on December 5th, 2015 at Monarch Nursing Home at Parkland Riverview. Connie is survived by her three children Mary Christine (Johannes) Riedel , James Daniel (Beth) Kirk and Nora Patricia Jessome, 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Connie was predeceased by her husband J. Dan Kirk and her daughter-in-law Beverly (Young) Kirk. Connie was a graduate of St Vincent’s High School in 1935. Connie then commenced work as a Medical Laboratory Technician under the Canadian Society of Laboratory Technologists at the old General Hospital then located on Waterloo Street, Saint John, NB. Connie was involved with various CYO activities on Cliff Street including horseback riding and dances where she met her future husband. Connie spent summer vacations visiting Shediac where she developed her intense love for lobster! Connie was married to J. Dan Kirk at the Immaculate Conception Church in Saint John on May 7th, 1946. Connie never did lose her love of caring for others as she volunteered many years at the St Joseph’s Hospital reception and Rocmaura Home for Special Care as well as a member of the St Joseph’s Auxiliary and as a longstanding member of the St Pius X CWL. Even in her later years, Connie was the Royal Court Sunday morning welcoming person opening the door for the clergy hosting their regular Sunday morning Mass. Connie’s best day of her life was her wonderful marriage with her husband J. Dan Kirk. Connie moved to Moncton in 2005 to the Parkland Estates in Riverview, residing first in the Royal Court building then Canterbury and finally Monarch Hall. Connie’s family would like to thank the staff of the Parkland Estates, Riverview for their love and tender loving care of our mother during her stay. You became her family! Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) where visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 9th from 6:30-9pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 10th at 10am from Brenan’s Chapel with interment to follow at St Joseph’s Cemetery.
