Obituary of Robert Henry Maund

Robert Maund, passed away on March 10, 2014 in Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Newnham Bridge, Worcestershire, England he was the son of William and Matilda Maund and the husband of the late Hannah Jane (Jones) Maund. He served in the Royal Air Force during WW II from 1940 until 1945 and two and half years being with the Desert Air Force in the Middle East Campaign. He was awarded Clasp to the Africa Star Medal. After the war her served in the British Police in the cites of Birminghan and Wolverhampton, and in his last years of working was with Criminal Investigation Department. In 1957 the family emigrated to Canada. He joined C.P.R. Investigation Department, stationed in Montreal. While in Montreal was active in the Boy Scouts as Scoutmaster of a newly formed Troop and later as District Commissioner. In 1969 he was transferred to Saint John being responsible for all police matters in connection with C.P. Transport in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. He retired on medical grounds in 1979. He is survived by his son, Alan Maund of Saint John; daughter, Susan Rowe of Saint John ; grandson s, Aaron Rowe of Saint John and Richard Powell of Ottawa and several great grandchildren. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). There will be no funeral service or visitations.. For those who wish, remembrances to the S.P.C.A. Animal Rescue League would be appreciated by the family.
