Obituary of Iris Pauline Jones

Surrounded by her family the death of Iris Jones, wife of the late A. F. 'Pete' Jones occurred at Bobby's Hospice on Sunday, September 7, 2014. She was born on January 26, 1927 in Chatham, Kent, England to the late Isaac and Ada (Kent) Banham. She came to Canada in 1941, sailing aboard the SS Nerissa. Iris worked for many years as a Federal Civil Servant in the Department of National Defense, retiring in 1988. She was widowed in 1991. She was a member of St. John Baptist (Mission Church) and St. Clement and a member of the Guild of St. Monica. Iris had a love for life and experiences; she loved to travel including trips to Europe and Asia even in her twilight years. She is survived by her sons: Gary (Susan) of Quispamsis and Christopher (Katherine) of Stratford, PE; daughters: Gayle Cyr (Terry) of Dartmouth, NS and Susan Limoges (Louis) of Battersea, ON; younger siblings: Michael Banham and Margaret Pearson both of England; eight grandchildren: six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). There will be no public visitation. The Funeral Service will be held from St. John Baptist (Mission Church) and St. Clement, 815 Millidge Avenue on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 10:30am. Interment will take place in Fredericton Rural Cemetery Extension, Woodstock Rd., Fredericton, later in the afternoon. For those who wish remembrances to Bobby’s Hospice would be appreciated by the family.
