Obituary of James Carter McLeod

James Carter McLeod in the presence of his two daughters and niece, Dale, peacefully went to be with his Lord on Sunday, November 10, 2013, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Fredericton on October 21, 1941, he was the son of the late Orville and Mary (Cochrane) McLeod. Jim was employed as a sub foreman with the City of Saint John for 42 years. He was well respected amongst his co-workers and known for his strong work ethic. He will fondly be remembered as "the legend." His Millidgeville asphalt gang "Band of Brothers" will especially remember his jokester ways. Jim was an avid sports fan who was loyal to the Chicago Blackhawks. He loved walking in the woods and looked foreword to spending time at the camp with his uncle Lloyd. Jim was also a real history buff and especially enjoyed researching the Civil War. Jim is survived by his wife, Gail Dulong of Grand Bay-Westfield, daughters, Terry Lynn Currie (Shawn Southwell) and Lori Rose McLeod (Carlos Beato) both of Ontario; step-children, Kerry McNulty and Frank Morris both of Ontario; sisters, Rosalie McLeod of Lincoln and Linda Campbell (Bill) of Rothesay; brother, Leonard "Butch" McLeod (Janet) of Quispamsis; grandchildren, Jodi and Lindsey Currie and Kaitlin and Joseph McLeod-Beato; step-grandchildren, Madeline McNulty, Samantha, Benjamin and Raymond Morris; great-grandchildren, Brayden and Ryleigh Morgan; special uncle and aunt, Lloyd and Sheila Cochrane; aunt, Chris Bartkiw (Wally); uncles, Bud Cochrane (Mildred), Lawrence Cochrane (Joyce) and Ralph Cochrane; special niece, Dale McLeod; several other nieces and nephews; dear friend, Calvin McDonald and beloved cat, Meowie. In addition to his parents, Jim was also predeceased by his step-father, Pat Cook; sister, Deborah McNeil; brother, Kevin McLeod; several aunts and uncles. A heartfelt thank you to Butch, Janet and Sheila for all the support and loving care during Jim’s illness. Also, a special thank you to Dr. Casey and the entire staff of Palliative Care for providing Jim with such excellent and compassionate care. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). The memorial service will be held from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel, on Thursday, November 14, 2013, at 2:00 PM. For those who wish, remembrances made to the SJRH Palliative Care Unit or to the Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue would be appreciated by the family. "I Shall Fight No More Forever"
