Obituary of Muriel Eva Harding

The family of Muriel Eva (Wilson) Harding, sadly annouce her passing on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Embassy Hall, Shannex, Quispamsis surrounded by her family. Born September 15, 1919 in Moncton, she was a daughter of the late Edgar Bishop (E. B.) and Greta Hazel (Cochrane) Wilson. Muriel moved to Saint John with her family in her younger years and graduated from Saint John Vocational School. Muriel worked along side her husband for many years in the family owned business, Duke Street Grocery, then again with him travelling the Maritimes in his position as a Manufacturer’s Agent. Upon his retirement they spent many winters in Florida. Muriel loved her family and had a wonderful circle of close friends. She was happiest when surrounded by them all. Muriel led a very active life. She was a member of Portland United Church, a member of the Gyrette Club, a member and past President of Thistle St. Andrew’s Curling Club, where she was honoured with a lifetime membership, and was a member and past President of the Westfield Golf and Country Club. Besides her parents, Muriel was predeceased by her infant sister, Edwina Maxine, her husband, Fred L. Harding, her son, Barry W. L. Harding of Truro (Madeleine), brother, Carvell and his wife Marguerite. Left to mourn are daughter, Marilyn Hebert (Pat McCluskey); granddaughters: Cheryll Anne Blakney (Shawn Votour), Michelle Stoddart (Peter), Sabrina Harding, and loved daughter-in-law Madeleine of Truro; great-grandchildren: Brandon Fowler, Ocean Harding, Samantha and Lucas Stoddart and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, 634-7424, with visiting on Monday, November 25, 2013 from 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at 12 PM from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery.
