Obituary of Dorothy Lee Sudsbear

Dorothy Lee Sudsbear of Saint John passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Pembroke, Ontario on February 13, 1962, she was a daughter of Theresa M. (Stack) Sudsbear and the late Peter R. Sudsbear. Dorothy was employed as an I. T. Specialist, having worked at the Port of Saint John, Verizon, and currently at CenterBeam Canada Inc. She was a former member of T.O.P.S., and enjoyed bowling with St. Peter’s Ladies Bowling League. In her spare time, Dorothy enjoyed reading and working on the family tree, and also enjoyed the company of her cat, Priss. In addition to her mother of Saint John, Dorothy is survived by siblings Bridget Hornyak (Michael) of Saint John, Mary Ellen White (Elias) of Stettler, AB, Tom Sudsbear (Sharon) of Oromocto, and Shane Sudsbear (Pam) of Wetaskiwin, AB; nieces and nephews Theresa and Meghan Jansen, Michael, Simon, Naomi, Elias P., Mary Elizabeth, Esther, Lydia, and Ben White, Victoria and Grant McNeill and Catherine Sudsbear, and Justin and Corey Sudsbear; uncles Joseph Stack (Doreen) of Clifton Royal and William Stack (Ramona) of Kingston, NB; an aunt, Joan Short of Kingston, NB; and several cousins. Dorothy was predeceased by her father, Peter. The family would like to acknowledge all the help given to Dorothy by her good friends, Hilda, Carol, and Sandra. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Sunday, December 29, 2013, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 30, 2013 at 11:00 AM from St. Peter’s Church, 50 Clarendon Street. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to Stem Cell Research at the Saint John Regional Hospital or to any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
