It is with great sadness that the family of Ralph Purdy Fudge announce his peaceful passing on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at his home with his family by his side. Born February 13, 1919, he was a son of the late Frederick and Rita (Dykeman) and loving husband of 71 years to his wife, Elsie MacIntyre. Ralph graduated from Saint John High in 1937 and went to work for G. E. Barbour and then moved on to Canada Revenue Agency. He spent the bulk of his career as the Director of Administration and Trade Development for the Port of Saint John, from which he retired in 1977. He thoroughly enjoyed his work and travelled the world developing business for the Port. He subsequently assumed the post of Manager of Business Development with W. H. Crandall & Associates Management Ltd., which he retired from in 1983. Following his retirement, he and Elsie spent many happy years in Florida. He was a past member of Bare Foot Bay Florida Kiwanis Club and the Golden K Kiwanis Club in Saint John. He was a member of Probus and the Goodwill Social Club, and served for a number of years on the Seamen’s Services Committee of the local YMCA. He was a Past Member of the Saint John Board of Trade and also served on the Public Relations Advisory Committee to the Saint John Urban Renewal Commission and also the Energy Conservation Committee for the City of Saint John. For a number of years, Ralph served as Publicity Director on the Annual Salvation Army Red Shield Fund Drive, and was a life member of the Canadian Port and Harbour Association. He was also an active member of St. David’s United Church for many years. Above all, Ralph will be remembered as a wonderful family man and great friend.
