Obituary of Carmel J. Wallace

Surrounded by her loving family, the death of Carmel Joan Wallace, wife of the late Lloyd Wallace, occurred on Sunday, April 18, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on September 8, 1929, on Somerset Street, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Josephine (Black) Sullivan. Carmel was employed with the telephone company for several years before getting married. After raising her family, she worked at Sears Catalogue Department for twenty years until her retirement. In retirement she enjoyed her get togethers with the Sears Girls. Carmel was a caring person, whose family always came first. Survived by her son, Michael (Lynn) of Saint John, NB; daughter, Rebecca Butler (Andrew) of Halifax, NS; sisters, Patricia Hanlon (Cyril) of Saint John, and Mary Charron (Louis) of Ottawa, ON; brother, Tim Sullivan of Moncton, NB; grandchildren, Andrew and Brent (Taya) Wallace, Kristina and Andrew Butler; great-grandchildren, Ian and William. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Thomas Wallace; brothers, Donnie and John L. Sullivan and sister, Joanne Sullivan. At Carmel’s request, there will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at 11:00 AM from St. Pius X Church, Somerset Street, Saint John. Interment to take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).
