Obituary of James Frederick Bartlett

James Frederick Bartlett of Saint John passed away on Thursday, December 03, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, from complications after heart surgery. Born at Saint John on April 7, 1942, he was a son of the late William Henry and Gertrude Louise (Murphy) Bartlett. Jim worked at the Port of Saint John, and was a life time member of the International Longshoreman’s Association. An avid hunter and fisherman, Jim also enjoyed watching golf and cheering for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Jim is survived by his three daughters, Cindy Zigler (Joel) of Toronto, Andrea McLelland (James) of Houston, Texas, and Jenn Needler of Newmarket, Ontario; three grandchildren, Colin McLelland, Katherine McLelland, and Conrad Needler; five sisters, Ruth Bonner, Nancy McCoy (Bob), Joan Richard (Guy), Dawn Smith, all of Saint John, and Linda Steele (Wayne) of Bradley Lake; special cousins, Lloyd and Sheryl Bartlett; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Jim was predeceased by two brothers, William “Billy” and Donald; and by a sister, Betty Achorn. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 AM from St. Peter’s Church, 50 Clarendon Street. For those who wish, remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
