Obituary of Mary Charlotte Munn

Mary Charlotte Munn of Nauwigewauk, wife of Hedley A. Munn, passed away on Monday, November 16, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Ludlow on May 27, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Harvey Pond and Gladys (Price) (Pond) McCarthy. In her younger years, Mary worked at the Cotton Mill in Marysville and for McCluskey’s in Boiestown. Mary and Hedley moved to Saint John in 1963, and lived in the area since that time. Mary was a member of the Nauwegiwauk Christian Church, and the Women’s Quilter’s Group of the Hampton United Church. Mary enjoyed sewing, knitting, and quilting, and was a member of the Nauwigewauk Senior’s Group. In addition to her husband of 63 years, Mary is survived by her children, Sandra Drew of Hampton, Arthur Munn (Millie) of Browns Flat, Brenda Calhoun (Fred) of Courtenay, BC, Debra Pond (Ronald) of Hampton, and Calvin Munn of Nauwigewauk; grandchildren Tony Drew (Cathy), Darren Drew (Karen), Kelly Mazerolle, Rick Munn, Shelley King (Aaron), Robert Calhoun (Josephine), and Gerri-Lynn Stephen (Chris); several great grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Granter (Scott) of Burton; a brother, James McCarthy (Nancy) of Fredericton; as well as several brothers- and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by a brother, Earl Price; a sister, Myrtle Palmer; and son-in-law, Gerry Drew. In keeping with Mary’s wishes, a private family graveside service will be held at the Astle Cemetery, with Rev. Ron Henderson officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to join them for a time of remembrance and refreshment at the Astle United Church Hall on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 2:15 PM. For those who wish, remembrances to the Palliative Care Unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital or the Nauwigewauk Christian Church would be appreciated by the family.
