Obituary of Ruth Mary Cavanagh

It is with great sadness that the family of Ruth Mary Cavanagh (Donnelly) widow of George T. Cavanagh, announces her passing at the Kings Way Care Centre on November 2, 2009 with dear friends Peggy and Debra at her side. Born in London, Ontario, on October 23, 1916, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary Donnelly. Ruth loved playing cribbage, knitting, cooking, reading and spending time with her family and extended family. She is survived by her son, James (Mabel) of St. John’s, Newfoundland; her daughter, Barb “Sue” Cavanagh of Edmonton, AB; three grandchildren, who lovingly referred to her as “Stretch”, Jill (Stuart) Green of New York, Chris (Leslie) Cavanagh and their son, Finley of St. John’s and Jonathan (Hilary) Cavanagh of Halifax, NS; special friends, Peggy Stiles (Vern), Debra Armstrong (Joe), Pamie Shonaman (Daryl), Mary Lee McMillan (Jack), Judy Connell (Wayne), Daniel Dobson (Rose), Derek Dobson (Kelly), David Dobson (Terri), James Dobson (June), Paul Dobson (Sandy), their families; friends, Harold and Valerie and longtime friend and neighbour, Betty Wrench. She was predeceased by three brothers, Jerome, Joseph and Lawrence Donnelly and special friends, Jim and Jean Dobson. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Joachim’s Church, Loch Lomond Road on Friday, November 6, 2009 at 11:00 am. Interment will be in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. In memory of Ruth donations may be made to Kings Way Care Centre or charity of choice.
