Obituary of Catherine Regina Sullivan

It is with deepest sadness that we announce the death of Catherine (Katie) Regina Sullivan of Saint John, wife of the late Arthur H. (Lutie) Sullivan, with whom she shared her life for 55 years, who passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital in her 89th year. Born at Saint John on October 28, 1921, she was a daughter of the late William (Bill) and Elizabeth (Bess) (Thompson) Pye. Catherine was a long time member of both Holy Trinity and St. Pius X Parishes, and was a member of the Catholic Women’s League. Catherine is survived by two sons, William Sullivan of Woodman’s Point and John Sullivan of Saint John; two daughters, Jean Plagenz (Wally) of Barrie, ON and Barbara Vey (Hughie) of Millidgeville; four grandchildren, Gordon Plagenz (Anna), Christopher Vey (Dina), Terrence Plagenz, and Kelly Sullivan; five great grandchildren, Adam, Michael, and Matthew Plagenz and Hailey and Ashley Vey; a brother, Everett (Roy) Pye of Saint John; a sister, Mary McDougall of Saint John; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Catherine was predeceased by sons Harold Edward and Arthur Howard; sisters Alice Walsh and Winnifred Steeves; and by brothers Harry, Edward (Ned), and William (Bill) Pye. At the request of the family, there will be no visitation. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated on Friday, January 15, 2010 at 12:00 Noon from Holy Trinity Church, Rockland Road. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to any charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. The funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).
