Obituary of Robert Blair Reid

It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Robert (Bob) Blair Reid of Belgrave Street, Saint John, by motor vehicle accident near Fredericton, NB on Saturday, September 26, 2009. Bob was born in 1948 in Moncton, NB, the eldest child and only son of the late Robert (Bob) and Edith (Gamble) Reid. He is survived by his wife Daphne (Hanson) (Scott); daughter Amarea (Reid) Hamilton Greenlaw of Halifax; step-children Alexander Scott at home, and Robyn Scott Stewart (Travis) of Yellowknife, NWT; sisters Bonnie Reid (Doug Gamble) of Carmel, California, and Nancy Reid of New Maryland, NB; two nephews, Jeff and Jeremy Reid of Moncton, great-nieces and nephew; aunts, uncles, and cousins. Bob attended Harrison Trimble High School, worked for several years as a printer in Toronto, and returned to Moncton to work in the hospitality industry, including Food and Beverage Manager at Keddy’s, Shediac Road, then as an All State insurance agent in Saint John and Moncton. In later years, he was employed in customer service with RMH, Client Logic, and Stream. After retirement, he was employed by McDonalds and Burger King in Saint John. Bob and family spent summers at his heart’s home at the beach at Caissie Cape, NB. A very well-known and talented bass player, Bob played with many well-known Maritime bands, including the Fendermen in his youth, the Gospelaires, Big John Little, a founding member of the Hill Bros, Julian Austin, Out on Good Behavior, Theresa Malenfant, Reg Gallant, and Gene O’Connor. Blues music was his passion and he played it with skill and soul. His other love, besides his family, was his Siamese cats, Mike and Mia, his sleep time snugglers. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday from 7-9 PM and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:30 AM from Brenan’s Chapel.
